East Bay Agency for Children improves the well-being of children, youth and families by reducing the impact of trauma and social inequities. EBAC’s five Family Resource Centers, located in Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward, and Fremont, help connect Alameda County families to critical medical and dental services, food sources, housing, and more; understand their child’s development and needs; and strengthen social connections. Resource Specialists speak 11 languages providing families – including immigrants and refugees – trauma-informed, culturally welcoming support. Additional services include case management and family education.

Family Paths has served the mental health needs of children and families in Alameda County since 1972, and offers services that include a 24-hour Parenting Stress Helpline (1-800-829-3777), Positive Parenting classes and Father-specific programming, CalWORKs Case Management, CalWORKs employment support, group therapy for mothers who have experienced abuse and trauma in their past, and counseling for children, adolescents, parents, and families.

The mission of First Place is to help foster youth build the skills they need to make a successful transition to self-sufficiency and responsible adulthood. First Place for Youth has expanded our Healthy Transitions Project for Parents to include a 12-week Baby Bonding curriculum so that all program staff can meet the distinct needs of the young parents in our programs—helping them accomplish their education and employment goals while navigating new roles as parents. The curriculum includes an interactive youth workbook designed to provide instruction and parenting guidance both while in our program and after exiting.

La Familia’s FESCO housing programs provides transitional housing and emergency shelter to low/extremely low income families in Alameda County. Participants receive wraparound services including housing assistance, case management, life skills/parenting education support, employment training and job search assistance, counseling services, children’s activities, and linkages to benefits and mainstream resources.

Restorative Pathways (formerly Ruby’s Place) provides space for healing and growth for victims and survivors of human trafficking and domestic abuse. The Children’s Program at RP strives to provide safe haven for those children who are at high risk for abuse. The program addresses and impacts the problem of child abuse and neglect by providing for safety and material needs while supporting the family with knowledge, support, strategies that will address pre-existing abuse or prevent future abuse. RP offers several services in support of child abuse prevention that intersect with the five Protective factors identified; Parent Resilience, Social Connections, Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development, Social and Emotional Competence in Children, and Concrete Supports in Times of Need.
